How Do I Download & Install Printer Drivers?

Download and install the printer driver before adding the SecurePrint queue. Please see the instructions for your device’s operating system below.

Note: In order to access the drivers and print from your personal device, you must be on the Stanford wireless SSID, Stanford wired, or Stanford VPN network.  If you are not on the Stanford network, learn how to connect.

Windows:

  1. Make sure you are on the Stanford wifi, Stanford wired, or Stanford VPN network.
  2. The driver will download and install automatically from the print server when adding the queue.
  3. Add the Print Queue for Windows.

macOS:

  1. Make sure you are on the Stanford wifi, Stanford wired, or Stanford VPN network.
  2. Download the macOS printer driver.
  3. Double-click the downloaded zip file to reveal the package installer.
  4. Double-click the pkg installer file.  Click Continue and follow the prompts to complete the installation process.  Note: If your computer is set to only allow apps from the App Store, right-click the pkg file and select Open, then click the Open button in the pop-up.
  5. A printer named "Stanford SecurePrint: <sunetid>" will be configured during driver installation and added to your list of printers.  If necessary, you can manually Add the Print Queue for macOS.

Linux (unofficial support):

  1. Install and start the CUPS daemon
  2. Install drivers:
    1. Install official Canon drivers from https://www.codehost.com/canon/.

      OR
    2. A generic PostScript driver might provide basic functionality.
  3. Add the Print Queue for Linux.
